Born September 10, 1950 in Lawrence, Massachusetts,Anthony Joseph “Joe” Perry is the lead guitarist and a contributing songwriter for the longstanding rock and roll band Aerosmith. He also led his own group, The Joe Perry Project, in the early 1980s, and released a solo album in 2005. In his sole work as an actor, Perry had a guest role on an episode of Homicide: Life on the Street, a popular NBC drama, in 1998. He is of Portuguese and Italian ancestry and is currently married with four children. You may even see his wife Billie on one of Joe’s most famous guitars named Perry Perry ES 335.
Joe Perry travels with a large number of guitars, including recognizable favorites like Joe Perry ES 335, Dan Armstrong lucite, and BC Rich 10-string Bich, as well as a number of Custom Shop Teles and Strats from Fender and guitars from California-based boutique builder Echopark Guitars.
By the way, I’ve seen a lot of shows, and they by far commanded the most respect and professionalism before even the first note was struck. Just kind of a vibe when pro musicians hit a stage that they have hundreds of times before. When they did, it was the most insane and inspiring tone I’ve EVER heard. (both Perry and Whitford) Perry was playing the Perry Perry ES 335. My head was right at stack level and able to hear EVERY little pluck or slide on their axes in real time. Sonic Crack.
I am sure that you won’t want to miss such a Perry Perry ES 335, so what are you waiting for? Order it just now!
Perry is currently on his second marriage. His first marriage was to Elyssa Jerret and lasted from 1975-1985 (1 child-Adrian Perry). They had a turbulent relationship, and she once bit him in the face during an altercation. His second marriage is to Billie Paullete Montgomery Perry (3 kids- Tony, Roman + Stepson Aaron). Perry married Billie Montgomery in 1985. He met her on the set of his “Black Velvet Pants” video in 1983, and they have been together ever since.
You may even see Billie on one of Joe’s most famous guitars Joe Perry Wife Guitar.
As Aerosmith pushes toward its fifth decade of making great music, the method to the band’s songwriting madness remains much the same as ever before. Using his Joe Perry Wife Guitar, Joe Perry comes up with a stupendously infectious riff, Tyler counters with a strong vocal melody and lyrics rife with double entendres, and a classic song is born. The style varies on occasion—most clearly on the band’s power ballads—but, as Perry notes, listeners will never mistake an Aerosmith song for a song by anyone else.
“It’s all basically the same thing,” he says. “We still just sit in a room and come up with music. Steven and I both like that R&B backbeat. Sometimes it sounds poppier than at other times, and sometimes it sounds bluesy, but it’s always kind of wrapped around that feeling.”
